A precious moment in time.
Kia ora,
I am Ian, a photographer drawn to the quiet, honest moments that often pass unnoticed. My work spans street, documentary, and landscape photography, with a focus on capturing scenes as they truly are: unposed, unpolished, and full of character.
I began studying photography many years ago, at Strode College in Somerset, UK. I began with traditional black and white photography in the darkroom, developing project based work and ideas that shaped my creative style, approach, and ethos. After moving to New Zealand, I co-founded the White Space Gallery and began exhibiting across both NZ and the UK. Over the years, photography has become my way of observing — a way of slowing down, listening, and documenting the stories unfolding around me.
Whether I’m shooting an empty shoreline, a fleeting expression on the street, or the vastness of the New Zealand landscape, my goal is the same: to create images that feel real, grounded, and emotionally true.
